I'm Mikita Makei, and I work as a software engineer.
I enjoy building focused tools that reduce unnecessary effort and integrate with other tools well.
Areas of work
Agent systems & AI engineering
Agents that do real work in production, with a human in the loop only where it matters.
I build the systems that run agents in production: orchestration, failure recovery, human review for risky decisions, and evaluations before each change ships. On one AI platform, they handle hundreds of enterprise tasks a day, including computer-use agents for tools with no API. Prompts, plugins, skills, and MCP connections change with no deploy; code changes reach a few customers first, and running tasks finish on their own version. Kafka, Kubernetes.
Web applications
Web products that people rely on every day, owned from the database to the interface.
I build and run production web apps: Django and Flask backends, plain-JavaScript and React frontends, KYC/AML onboarding, and the infrastructure under them: Docker, Nginx, Cloudflare for DDoS protection, AWS and Google Cloud, and Sentry for errors. The longest one is a fintech and blockchain app with tens of thousands of users: trading, merchant payments and dashboards, and withdrawals. I owned it from the database to the interface for five years.
APIs & SDKs
Public APIs and SDKs that stay stable while the backend keeps changing.
I turn existing backends into public APIs without breaking the product that already runs on them, and generate Python and TypeScript SDKs from OpenAPI specs. When the backend changes, client code keeps working: versioned releases, deprecation warnings before removals, changelogs and migration guides, and contract tests that catch breaking changes before release.
Developer tools
Tools that turn a custom integration into a few lines of Python.
I build tools that other developers build on. As a former core maintainer of an open-source Python framework, I designed the layer that connects AI models to an app: streaming a model’s reply into the interface takes a short loop, not custom plumbing. I also built its backend-driven UI components in Python. On an internal platform, I built a plugin system that ships new features through GitOps.
